What is the Encore?

Well I'm glad you asked.  One of the key contributors to the music and art scene in Three Hills is Lewis Frere, who is not just a great guy, but a prolific songwriter, and performing musician and also our landlord. Lewis had a well known coffee shop in Rosebud called The Encore, known for great atmosphere, live music and community.  Lewis and his wife Mitzy have teamed with us up to bring The Encore here to the the theatre space upstairs at the Three Hills Arts Academy. With our recent addition of theatre lighting, a brand new sound system, catering supplies, coffee tables and comfy furniture we are getting set to host coffee house-style live music, cater your next event, wedding or family get together.  We will also be holding open mic nights for local musicians to showcase their skills.  The official grand opening of The Encore will take place December 11th with Lewis and Royal doing what they do best - music, comedy and entertainment.  Leading up to that we have a few travelling musicians coming to help us warm up the stage. The Encore means big things for Three Hills - a gathering place, atmosphere, entertainment, food, coffee and fun.

Our first events in the newly-named "Encore" are live music.  First up is the entertaining Scott Nolan, a blues man from Winnipeg here this Sunday, Oct 30.  His laid back soulful blues rock is unavoidably catchy and will have you tapping toes, bobbing your head and grooving along. He's been back and forth across Canada many times and is now on tour via Home Routes, an initiative of the Winnipeg Folk Festival committed to bringing the best independent Canadian musicians to your living room.
