Guys and Dolls Auditions! December 1st and 2nd, 7-9pm

posted Nov 15, 2010 10:12 AM by Ben Ewert   [ updated Jan 20, 2011 2:22 PM ]

Calling all community actors for auditions! In early April 2011 the Arts Academy will present it's 17th annual musical, Frank Loesser's Guys and Dolls in a two-week, 10 show run in Three Hills. We're looking to build on last year's successful Beauty and the Beast so we've got the production team together early and are excited to again see the talent that Kneehill has to offer. Auditions (16 and older only) will be held December 1st and 2nd at the Academy (201 5th Ave N) from 7-9pm. Sign up for a slot by phoning 443-7011, emailing office@thaas.ca or stopping by the office. Audition packets detailing the audition process and actor requirements for the production are available at the Arts Academy or by download below

Though this is amateur theatre we take pride in being able to put on a stellar performance. This means all cast members will be required to sing and dance (there will be instruction, we're not going to throw you to the wolves!) as well as pour their heart into acting. We want to maintain Three Hills' rep of doing amazing shows and top our number of almost 1500 patrons last year!

You may be familiar with debonair superstars Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra lighting up the silver screen with a 1950's big screen adaptation and we're looking to capture some of that great magic with our local version of Guys and Dolls

Publishers Music Theatre International provides the synopsis, "Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, this oddball romantic comedy - considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy-soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters who have become legends in the canon: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evildoers of Time Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiance, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game."
